Blackboard Bistro hosts grand opening Friday night | Events

After serving a few during a "soft opening" last week, Blackboard Bistro will host its grand opening on Friday, August 13 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The rotating menu (pictured below) features diverse "American inspired" items including watermelon salad, chicken and chantrelle pie, gnocchi, scallop ceviche, pan friend halibut and a stew with prawns, house-made sausage, clams and potatoes ranging from $6 to $20. There's no list of starters, appetizers or main courses, because chef Jacob Wiegner says all items are made to share. You can wash it all down with a diverse and delicious wine selection.

The cozy and quaint restaurant offers tables of all sizes and large blackboards that cover most walls and display the day's menu.

"Come experience food together the way people used to and don't anymore. Take your time with dinner and make an evening of it," said Wiegner.
