South Park dog park expected to open in September | Development
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Demolition work on the old Teriyaki shop at South Sullivan Street and Dallas Avenue South is scheduled to begin tomorrow and the new South Park dog park is expected to open there in the beginning of September, according to King County Community Relations Planner Ashley DeForest.
King County originally purchased the lot at South Sullivan Street and Dallas Avenue South to use as a staging area for construction of the new South Park Bridge. While construction is on hold, the lot will be used as a temporary dog park.
The 8000-square-foot park will offer a place for dogs to play off-leash. King county will lay a sandy material on the ground and construct a 4-foot fence with gates around the park.
The park will cost $2500 and will be covered by county demolition dollars.
If the South Park Bridge replacement project is funded and construction begins in the spring, the park may be moved to a new location, depending on its success at Sullivan and Dallas.
